About David

David Schapira is a Tempe Union High School District board member and the assistant superintendent of the East Valley Institute of Technology. He has represented Tempe in both the Arizona House and Senate over the last six years, most recently as the Arizona Senate Minority Leader. David is a third-generation Arizonan who has served his community as a high school teacher, an ASU instructor and a small-business owner.

david-and-family.pngThe Arizona Republic recently named David as one of “Tempe’s Exemplary People” in recognition of his commitment to the community he serves. The Republic had previously recognized him as a “Lawmaker Who Made a Difference” and as an “Emerging Leader Worth Watching.” The Arizona Student Association, American Cancer Society, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the League of Cities and Towns and the Arizona Technology Council have recognized David for his leadership.

David and his wife, Rosemary, a Tempe educator, live in central Tempe where they are raising their two young daughters, Elliot and Sydney.
